On December 16, 2024, the serene waters of Plover Cove at Tai Mei Tuk transformed into a vibrant arena as the 2024 HKSSA X PCSC Festival Cup Sailing Regatta unfolded in full swing. This eagerly awaited event brought together 32 talented young sailors from five school teams, who competed fiercely across four different classes for both individual and team glory.

A Dynamic Format with Multiple Champions
This year’s Festival Cup featured four competitive classes—Optimist, Topper, PICO, and ILCA 4—ensuring a thrilling mix of challenges for participants of varying skill levels. Each class crowned its top three sailors, with champions, second-place, and third-place winners celebrated for their outstanding performances.

The coveted Overall School Champion title was determined based on the cumulative performance of each school’s sailors across all four classes.

Participating Schools and Achievements
The regatta saw participation from five dedicated school teams, each bringing their unique strengths and competitive spirit to the water. While Hong Kong Sea School claimed the overall title, every school had sailors who earned spots on the podium, highlighting the depth of talent in this year’s competition.

The Festival Cup was more than a competition; it was a celebration of the youth sailing community in Hong Kong. Spectators lined the shore, cheering on the sailors and creating a supportive, lively atmosphere. Against the stunning backdrop of Plover Cove, the event also reinforced the beauty and challenges of sailing—a sport that requires both technical skill and a deep connection to nature. The success of the 2024 Festival Cup was made possible by the collaborative efforts of the Hong Kong Schools Sailing Association (HKSSA) and the Plover Cove Sailing Club (PCSC).
